Collaboration Time! Logee Photography – Maple And Oak Designs
A couple of months ago, I started working on a second collaboration project with another good friend of mine. Her name is Jillian and she’s the photographer and maker behind Logee Photography. We wanted to work on a project together for a while but at first I thought the only way I would be able to work with her was to hire her for photo shoots. That was awesome, don’t get me wrong here, but it’s just not what I would really call a collaboration in the creative sense. Then she told me about this awesome fabric that you can print on and there it was, the right medium for a collaboration. Yay for printing her photos onto that fabric! But what next? What should I do with this fabric full of photos?
The decision wasn’t too hard as we both absolutely love headbands. At first we decided which styles of headbands I would make, the winners are the Turban Headband and the Yoga Headband. Now, which photos would work well with that design of headband? A while ago Jillian took a series of abstract photos of cream mixed with dye and the results are a feast for colour lovers like me. Those were a must. But we also wanted to include a couple of pictures that feature more realistic motives, so we chose a few with flowers, some beautiful skies and a gorgeous feather.
Why did we decide on the Turban and Yoga Headband style? First of all, the stretchy fabric was just perfect for those designs. Secondly, we’re both active people. There’s nothing more annoying when you’re hiking, running, doing yoga or hitting the gym than sweat trickling down your face or strands of hair constantly falling into your eyes. Both the Yoga Headband and the Turban Headband will do the trick and keep your face sweat and hair free. Yay! But there’s a third reason, in winter – and let’s be honest, we’ve only got a couple of weeks of fall left here in Canada – they’re perfect to warm your ears if you don’t want to wear a full on toque.
Her photo series always have beautiful titles and I really enjoyed listing a few of our headbands in my Etsy shop. If you’re as intrigued by our collaboration as I am, you can find and shop them here! Do you like one of her photos but can’t find them on a headband? Just contact us and we’ll work with you on a custom order!
Our collaboration headbands are also available at the different shows that we’re participating in. There are two markets coming up where you’ll be able to chat with both of us at once:
Don’t hesitate to ask us about the collaboration, we love to talk about it!
With love from the Maple And Oak Diaries,
